B105 has just started playing Toby Keith’s new song called “Cryin’ For Me (Wayman’s Song).” The song starts out with the voicemail greeting of a man and then slowly evolves into the story of a man who’s lost his best friend. Toby Keith wrote the song about his late friend Wayman Tisdale.
“Wayman Tisdale had made a name for himself in two pretty diverse fields: professional basketball and jazz. He’d also been a long-time friend of Toby Keith, who sang a song on Tisdale’s last album and wrote this song days after Tisdale’s death this past May.
Several of Tisdale’s friends and band mates are on the record, most notably Dave Koz on the saxophone. Appropriately enough, the song has a smooth jazz-meets-Nashville feel.” .

I ABSOLUTELY LUV THIS VIDEO. I THINK IT IS A WONDERFUL TRIBUTE TO HIS FRIEND WAYMAN TIDSDALE. I DON’T THINK IT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE ANY BETTER…THE LYRICS THAT TOBY SO BEAUTIFULLY WROTE DEFINITELY TELLS THE HURT HE FELT. .
This is a great song and a great video.
I absolutely love this song and video!!!!!!! I cry everytime I hear it. My husband of 34 years was killed in July of this year. I wish I could write a beautiful tribute like that for him. He was my best friend. Just like the song says I’m gonna miss that smile, I’m gonna miss you my friend, It hurts the way it ended up but I would do it all again………………………
I lost my husband to cancer, the song says it all………………..Thank you man
I don’t really know Toby Keith music…this is beautiful. What a wonderful tribute to a beautiful person. I am not only going to buy the CD; I am going to tell other’s to buy it. It is appropriate to be sad that someone has died….it is sad…when we lose someone like Wayman Tisdale.

i think this song is absolutely beautiful and it really makes me think about all the things that I take for granted in my life. I feel borrible about all the people that have lost someone that they dearly care about. especially a spouse. I couldn’t even imagine living my life without my husband. I almost lost him in Iraq and I’ve only gotten so close. I think this song is an amazing tribute and thats the one thing i love about Toby Keith, is that he is so very real.
I really don’t understand why everytime there is a way to poke a jab at Toby, critics do, such as Sam Gazdziak did. This song is a tribute to Wayman Tidsdale and the pain that Toby feels along with others. It is beautifully written, performed and has special people in Wayman’s life that are feeling pain too. Why does Sam Gazdziak from “Georgia”, seem to think his opinion matters? True Toby fans do not care what Sam thinks. It is not about Toby crying, it’s about feeling the loss of someone that was special to a lot of people including Toby and he included the others in the video. Give Toby a break and give him credit where credit is due. He’s made it on his own and you along with other critics do not like it because he did it Toby’s way. Don’t discredit a beautiful tribute to Wayman Tidsdale. Toby, this is a great song just like all of your songs. You are real, conpassionate and you are not ashamed to show your feelings in your videos or your songs. Please don’t change, this is what makes you “Toby”. Sincerely, A Toby Keith fan forever…..From Goldsboro, NC and proud to be a Toby fan.

I lost my husband of 34 yrs to cancer almost 2 yrs ago, when I heard this song I thought of my husband’s best friend. They were best friends since high school. They were each other’s best man in our weddings. As couples, the four of us became more like family, we raised our children together and have remained close friends. They hunted together, fished, camped and spent so much time together. He has had such a hard time with my husband’s death. I think loosing a best friend is much like a spouse. This song is so heartfelt and only Toby Keith could sing it.
Everytime I hear it I have to stop and just listen and even though it brings the feeling of loss up to a level of freshness it also calms the soul with the feeling of appreciation.
Thanks for your note Lori. Do you mind if I share it on the air some night this week?

I think this song is so touching and and a wonderful tribute to a friend. I know after recently losing two very dear friends, it helped to put things in perspective for me. Toby Keith is a master composer and singer. I love this song, and it gives me comfort when I hear it. You go, Toby!
