My New Year Resolution 2010

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Last year I said I was going to see a bunch of artists in concert.  Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Toby Keith, Sugarland, Rascal Flatts (again)….and most of them happened.
So my resolution for 2010 is to not be specific…..I am just going to go to more concerts that I did in 2009!

I think that totals about a dozen……so in 2010 I will hit up AT LEAST 13 concerts!   I am starting off my resolution right – I am going to see George Strait, Reba, and Leann Womack in Baltimore January 22nd.  It is the first night of their tour together and I am going to be there singing, cheering and screaming right along with 30,000 of my closets friends!

It will be an extra special concert because hubby and I are bringing his grandmother (who we call gammaw) for her FIRST CONCERT EVER!  It was our Christmas/Bday present to her!  It would be rude to tell her age but let’s just say she has lived too many years to say that she has never been to a concert!  We are going to remedy that!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOURS!

George Jones got a Christmas gift he’ll never forget

George Jones’ Favorite Christmas Gift Is a Trip Down Memory Lane

On Christmas Day, George Jones opened his door to a Santa Claus named Ronnie McDowell, who came bearing a very special gift. George’s wife Nancy commissioned Ronnie, who is an accomplished painter as well as singer, to paint a photo depicting her husband’s famous escapade taking off on a lawnmower in search of liquor.

“Well, I love you for this,” George told his friend, according to the Portland Progressive. After looking over the painting, he added, “This makes my Christmas Day!”

Without hesitating, Ronnie responded, “I’m your biggest fan, and I want you to know this is my favorite painting I’ve ever done. What better subject could I have?”

The painting shows George on a lawnmower, riding down the road with a police car behind him. In the background is the liquor store he had just paid a visit when he was caught. The incident actually happened twice in the singer’s life — once when he was married to his second wife, Shirley, and the second time when he was married to Tammy Wynette. Both women hid his keys from him and refused to give them back when he wanted to go get more alcohol. In the former incident, he drove to a liquor store; in the second, to a bar close to his home.

“Well, you did a good job depicting this story of my old days in your picture,” George told Ronnie, stressing that those days of reckless drinking are over.

This is not Ronnie’s first painting of a famous singer. Several of his portraits of Elvis Presley are part of the book ‘The Genuine Elvis,’ which was released earlier this year. One of the most touching is that of a young boy, his back to the viewer, meeting Elvis, also holding a guitar. Ronnie is known for his songs ‘The King Is Gone,’ ‘You’re Going To Ruin My Bad Reputation’ and ‘Older Women.’

George, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, continues to make music. His latest CD is ‘A Collection of My Best Recollection,’ released exclusively through Cracker Barrel Music.

Donations Needed For Horses Found Neglected

10 Dead Horses found with other

Malnourished Animals

BATAVIA, Ohio — Authorities are seeking help to feed and care for six horses found neglected at a Tate Township farm. The Clermont County Animal Shelter is accepting donations of horse blankets, hay, alfalfa cubes, beet pulp shreds, equine senior Purina, fat supplements (weight builder), flax seed oil, corn oil, anti-bacterial shampoo, halters/leads and grooming brushes.

The malnourished horses, along with a donkey and a pony, were taken from a property in the 2200 block of Donald Road, where investigators found 10 dead horses.Donations may be dropped off Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Clermont County Animal Shelter, 4025 Filager Road in Batavia, and after-hours donations may be left behind the shelter.Sheriff A.J. Rodenberg said 39-year-old Chad Moore lived at the home but had apparently abandoned it, leaving the horses behind.Moore has outstanding warrants for failure to pay child support and driving under the influence, Rodenberg said, and his ex-wife’s attorney said he was also wanted for theft.Moore remains at large, and the incident remains under investigation. An animal control official said Moore would likely be charged with animal cruelty and abandonment, which are punishable by up to 90 days in jail and a $750 fine for each count.
