Trailer Choir, Carter's Chord Singers Marry In Surprise Ceremony

Trailer Choir frontman Marc "Butter" Fortney and Carter's Chord's Emily Robertson really know how to throw a party -- and keep a secret. A post on Trailer Choir's website notes the country stars had their families and friends join them Monday night at a Nashville club, telling everyone they would be celebrating Butter's birthday. But it was actually something much bigger. After guests enjoyed some birthday cake the event became an engagement party -- briefly -- as Fortney popped the question to Robertson. Their very short engagement ended just moments later, when they dropped a specially-hung curtain which had been hiding a makeshift altar, flowers, and a preacher. The couple, who have been together for nearly two years, then stepped up and exchanged vows.

Butter says it was the perfect way for them to tie the knot. He explains, quote, "Emily and I wanted our wedding to reflect what was important to us, and how much we love each other. Expensive invitations and fancy ceremonies don't matter to us -- I mean the altar cost us 30-bucks worth of PVC pipes. Plus we both have this wacky sense of humor, and being able to pull off a surprise like that was great."
