Source: Edwards, wife separate

Former senator admitted last week to fathering girl with mistress

Former U.S. Sen. John Edwards, the Democratic nominee for Vice President in 2004 who unsuccessfully sought the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination, separated Wednesday from his wife, Elizabeth, a source close to her told People.com.

Edwards admitted last week that he fathered a girl with his mistress.

Elizabeth Edwards' sister, Nancy Anania, told People.com that Elizabeth told her, "I've had it. I can't do this. I want my life back."

"She's got cancer and has young children and totally believes in marriage ... but she can only do so much," Anania added.

Edwards made the following statement last week about his daughter: "I will do everything in my power to provide her with the love and support she deserves."

Report: Kerrigan's brother barred from father's funeral

Mark Kerrigan accused of assault and battery

The brother of former Olympic figure skater Nancy Kerrigan charged with assault following her 70-year-old father's sudden death at her childhood home in Stoneham, Mass., will undergo psychological evaluation and not be allowed to attend his father's funeral on Thursday, according to CBS News.

During an arraignment Monday, the 45-year-old man pleaded not guilty to assaulting his father, who died over the weekend.

Middlesex County Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Healy told CBS News that Mark indicated that he and his father Daniel had a violent argument that became "physical," and that he grabbed his father by the neck.

According to the police report, the argument was over the use of a telephone, and when police arrived at the home Sunday morning to find Daniel dead on the floor, Mark was noticeably intoxicated and belligerent when approached by officers.
